Great friendly match at Cerro del Espino last Saturday between Atletico de Madrid youth category team and a selection from InterSoccer and Youth Honor Division of Alcobendas CF.
The first half began with both teams testing the opponent, with some fear to leave gaps that could give advantage to the opponent. The Atletico kept possession of the ball while the InterSoccer expected the chance, or any opponent’s error, for kickback. Jorge, InterSoccer player, had the better chances but the defense, the goalkeeper and bad luck prevented the visiting team take the lead on the scoreboard. The first half ended with few clear chances letting the midfield and the defenses dominated the game.
The second half began by the same course, but fatigue and changes were opening the defenses leaving both teams reach the opponent’s area with more danger. Henry, an 18 years old Hispanic-Cameroonian striker, stole a very dangerous ball into the opponent and tried to beat the keeper with a shot from distance but a great stretch of the Atletico goealkeeper prevented the first black-green goal. Otia, InterSoccer Academy player currently in the ranks of Atletico de Madrid, crashed a free kick against the crossbar. The only goal came with a cross shot from Atletico de Madrid that InterSoccer defense was not able to deflect and was finished by an Atletico forward easily.
After the goal came the best chances for both teams, but the keepers had great performances both avoiding the scoreboard to change. Once again, playing against a “one-of-the-greatest” subsidiary team, InterSoccer Madrid demonstrated great technical and competitive level of its kids. Note that the Atletico de Madrid Youth Category is currently preparing with great intensity the “little” U-17 World Club’s Cup that later this month will bring teams like Barcelona, Sampdoria, Corinthians, Real Madrid, River Plate, Malaga…
