Yesterday the first edition of the U16 Champions Tournament “Luis Aragonés In Memoriam” was presented to the press. This tournament will take place at the Valdelasfuentes Sports City in Alcobendas (Madrid) during April the 11th and 12th. The event was chaired by the Mayor of Alcobendas, Ignacio Garcia Vinuesa, the President of Alcobendas-Levitt CF, club organizer, Tomás Páramo and the president of the Football Federation of Madrid, Vicente Temprado.
The presentation was attended by the widow of Luis Aragones, Pepa Fernandez, accompanied by his two daughters, his son in law and also by the Sports Director of the Community of Madrid, Pablo Salazar. The family, visibly excited, thanked this tribute and acknowledgment of the city in which “he lived to the end, their children grew up and still lives his widow”. “It’s a city with lots of bonding and we are very happy about it” said his daughters.
The mayor of Alcobendas, Ignacio Garcia Vinuesa, recognized “it was a real honor to have Luis as a neighbor involved, a loved person and recognized beyond the footballing merits because of his great humanity” and added that tournaments like this “fuel the flames of effort and competition” among young people.
The Alcobendas-Levitt CF President, Tomás Páramo, had some words for the prestige of the participating teams and players and said that “it is a gift for his club to compete with teams of that high level” and that they will be “greatly pleased” about that. The six participating teams have been grouped, after a live draw in the act, into two groups. In Group N1 we have AC Milan, Atletico Madrid and Alcobendas-Levitt and in Group N2 there are Real Sociedad, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The organization confirmed that both the semifinals and the final scheduled for April 12 will be broadcasted on TVE Teledeporte Channel.
