To coincide with our stay in Milan, we met with AC Milan’s youth co-ordinators and attended the first leg of the Champions League between AC Milan and Atletico Madrid – the two InterSoccer partnership clubs.
Before the match, we met Jose Luis Perez Caminero – former Spain international and current sporting director at Atletico. We were also fortunate enough to meet Atletico’s outstanding goalkeeper, Courtois. The Belgian ‘keeper is, probably, one of the best players in the world in his position at the moment. It was a fantastic experience and we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere generated by a pending Champions League match!
After a meal and plenty of conversation, we went to the San Siro Stadium where we witnessed a fantastic match – Atletico winning 1-0 – in the company of Giorgio Bertrami. Giorgio is a good friend of InterSoccer who is heavily connected with AC Milan’s youth sector through his involvement with the Milan Junior Camps.
It was an unforgettable day! The history that surrounds the San Siro made the trip even more enjoyable!
